Goals & Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

    • Describe the differences between unsubstantiated health claims and evidence-based recommendations.
    • Give current recommendations for calcium and vitamin D in- take. Help a patient select an appropriate calcium supplement.
    • Provide evidence-based recommendations for folic acid intake as it relates to neural tube defects and cardiovascular disease.
    • Summarize the evidence for the use of nutrient supplements to prevent macular degeneration and cataracts, improve immune function and athletic performance, and treat Alzheimer's disease.

    Exam & Credit Statement procedures

    Upon successful completion of this program and the post test (70%), 1.5 hours of continuing education credit will be awarded. To receive credit and your exam score, please complete the exam questions and program evaluation.
